Mary Warm was one of the first students at the ˿appKC School of Education’s Edgar L. and Rheta A. Berkley Child and Family Development Center 23 years ago. Now an early-education student at Penn Valley Community College, Warm took a part-time job at the Center last summer. She now teaches kids at the place where she “learned to walk, talk and read.”
“My favorite memory,” Warm said “is probably the adorable thing that a student said to me today. Seriously, every day new memories happen and I love each of them. Can you believe Vanessa Gibbs, the cook and best drummer ever, showed the children yesterday an African drum song? She did the same thing for me when I was three years old!”
The Edgar L. and Rheta A. Berkley Child and Family Development Center has been in operation for 23 years and holds accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Students include children of ˿appKC employees, students and the community.
